Help the Foxes

As I said in my pervious news blog I went to a BBQ at VetCall on Sunday. I heard some lovely stories about people and their pets. But there were two people there that are very very dedicated to the love and care of foxes. Reg who lives in Walthamstow and Debbie from Loughton are volunteers, that go out and rescue foxes no matter what time of the day or night. The work they do is 24 hours a day, t days a week and 52 weeks a year, even Christmas day. They do a lot of fund raising and they have a very special night lined up.

It's a Cockney Night on Friday the 30th October, they have a special guest Gordon Bennett to sentertain you on the night. Tickets are £15, there is a Licence Bar (you buy your own drinks) but the food is free. Please help them make the night a success by have a good night out at the show. For more information contact Debbie on 07930175626.

If you are interested in helping by becoming a volunteer. Please make sure your are 100% sure you can give your time. Reg and Debbie will be glad for your help.

VetCall's Opening Day

Today I went to a BBQ, which I had the privilege of being invited to by the staff at the VetCall Veterinary Surgery, in Station Road, North Chingford, Where I was shown a round the new premises with modern theatres and equipment. The practice was established in September 1997. VetCall has a reputation for giving a very high standard of animal care, which I myself have received for my dogs. The practice staff includes veterinary surgeons Stephen Posnett BVSc MSc, Vet GP, MRCVS, Ben Cranke BVSc MRCVS. Head Veterinary Nurse Kelly Hurren RVN, Sam Clements RVN, trainee VN Zoe, receptionists Kim and Hailey and Practice manager Elsa. They are dedicated to the practices and continue their education to enable them to keep up with the lastest advances in veterinary practices. The day was a great successes, there were some great stories told about rescued animals. The food and company was good, there was stalls and even a competiton to guess the name of a rescued fox, which I will be doing a separate story about at a later date, so please which this space. I would like to thank the staff a VetCall for their dedicaton and care they have given my dogs in the past, and for inviting my to see their new premises.

Dog "Bruce" on Death Row

A dog named Bruce has be condened to die becuase of the way he looks, a statement it was issued by The Kennal Club. The 1991 DDA was amended by the Dangerous Dogs Act 1997. The Act removed the mandatory destruction order provisions of the 1991 Act by giving the courts discretion on sentencing, and re-opened.

It's not fair and we do not understand why a pit bull dog is judge purly on its looks. In some parts of the UK it is regarded as a danger then the same dog would pose in another part.

We the Kennel Club want new legislations but the association in Westminster seems very unwilling to re-examine the current DDA. We will push for the 1997 amendment to apply in Northern Ireland; we encourage all dog owners in Northern Ireland to do the same.

Dog lovers from around the world have reacted in horror to the news of pet dog Bruce. A court has given orders he be destroyed ending a exhaustive twenty one month battle to save his life.

If you have any news on this sad story please let us know.
