Owners in the Isle of Man have been warned that if their dog keeps worrying sheep their pet may be destroyed. A young sheep had to be put down by a vet after being attacked by the dog.
The young sheep was found with a hole torn in its neck at Bradda Head. It seems the animal had been chased for some distance over the headland by the dog. Pc Ian Scott explained that if a dog is identified to disturbing livestock the owner of the dog can face fines of £2,500 and the dog can be destroyed if ordered my the court.
Also any livestock owner can take direct action, which may include killing the dog to protect their stock.
