Dog Cheats Chocolate Death

Polly a one year old Patterdale from Southampton ate 20 chocolate cupcakes. Polly was accidentally shut in the family’s kitchen by her owners. Owner Yvonne Taylor found Polly surrounded by the chocolate wrappers and phoned the vet knowing the dangers of cocoa poisoning. The vet gave her an injection to induce vomiting and then wash out her stomach under general anaesthetic. A PDSA spokesman said “Polly luckily pulled though and survived chocolate poisoning. The amount of chocolate she ate could have killed her, had her owner not contacted PDSA so swiftly. Polly has made a full recovery.
